Rolex DAY-DATE 40 228238
CHAMPAGNE DIAL
The dial is the feature that makes Rolex watches stand out, as it gives them a unique identity and legibility. The hour markers of each Rolex dial are made of gold to keep their luster untouched by time, while the dial itself is designed and manufactured in Rolex facilities, mostly by hand, to perfect effect.
THE STRIPED WREATH
The ribbed Rolex bezel is its trademark. Originally, Oyster’s bezel ridges served a functional purpose, screwing the bezel onto the case to ensure the watch was watertight. They were therefore identical to the ridges on the case lid, which was screwed onto it with Rolex’s special tools to provide a seal. Over time, the ribbing became a decorative element and an authentic Rolex characteristic. Today, the ribbed bezel is its trademark, in gold on the Day-Date 40 model.

Day-Date has always been the epitome of prestige and innovation. Made exclusively of precious metals, it was the first calendar wristwatch to show, in addition to the date, the day of the week in full text, in a window on the dial. Rolex is launching the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 in 950 platinum for the first time, an easily recognizable model thanks to its ice blue dial with ribbed bezel. A cornerstone of Rolex’s aesthetic heritage, this striking element, found only in certain models of the Classic series of the Oyster Perpetual collection and until now exclusively made of 18K gold, is now made of the most prestigious metal.
